Courses

The M.Sc. in “Accounting and Auditing” is structured into three academic semesters, each consisting of 12 courses. The minimum duration for program completion is 18 months. The total number of required European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits for obtaining the Master’s degree is 90 (thirty per semester). Attendance of the courses is mandatory.

Starting from the academic year 2020-21, students have the option of remote participation in some lectures through a distance learning platform.

Attendance is compulsory, with a maximum allowed absence of up to 30% for each course.

The courses of the three semesters are conducted in the classrooms and laboratories of the two Departments: in Volos at the Department of Economic Sciences – Matsagos building and in Larissa at the Department of Accounting and Finance.

The study duration for each student cannot exceed the stipulated period of three semesters. In exceptional cases, the Program Committee may grant a temporary suspension of studies for up to two consecutive semesters. The total study duration may be extended for an additional three semesters due to outstanding courses.

The semesters of suspension are not counted towards the prescribed maximum study duration.

Partial Attendance

Partial attendance of the program is allowed for employed individuals and, exceptionally, for unemployed individuals. The duration of partial enrollment is six (6) semesters without additional financial burden. During partial enrollment, students must declare, for the first two semesters, two (2) out of the four (4) offered courses per semester, including the mandatory course “Research Methodology.” In the third semester, students also declare two (2) out of the four (4) offered courses. Partially attending students are advised to choose courses in such a way as to ensure academic continuity of courses with the same title, e.g., “Financial Accounting I” in the first semester and “Financial Accounting II” in the second semester of studies. The number of partially attending students cannot exceed 30% of the admitted students.

The program’s duration is three semesters. To obtain the Master’s degree, the accumulation of 90 ECTS units is required, distributed equally across the three semesters.
